Health Workers: We Do Not Want to Die

Violence against health workers continues. Lastly, doctor Ahmet Azizoğlu was attacked by 10 relatives of one of his patients in Dicle University’s Emergency Unit. Healthcare providers protested the attack and made a press statement.

Here are their demands as indicated in the statement:

* We don’t want to die while helping people to live. We don’t want to lose one more of our friends by an obviously oncoming wave of violence.  

* We want to spare enough time for each of our patients and work in safer places. That’s why; we repeat our demands once more:

-Law for Violence against Healthcare Workers should be enacted as soon as possible. Those who commit violence should be imprisoned.

-Deterrent, preventive and realist precautions should be taken in order for healthcare workers to work in a safe environment.

We repeat that these warnings are vitally important. We do not want to die. We don’t want to be exposed to insults or get wounded.”
