Walls Were Covered with Many Different Colors in Istanbul’s LGBTI+ Pride Week

26th İstanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week started with a rich program under the theme of “boundaries” and ended with the traditional Pride Parade in Istiklal Street.

Pride Week, which faces bans and obstacles every year, had a theme of boundaries this year. By regarding walls as a means of setting boundaries, a wall painting workshop was held in Istiklal Street. Many people came together to paint walls. Narod Alcan, one of the participants said “I believe we can destroy walls by love. I love the colors and I believe they can reflect human-beings’ inner world better.”

Participants painted the walls like trying to find an answer to “Does the World become colorful while boundaries transform, or does boundaries transform while they become colorful?”
