People of Bartın Stand Together against the Planned Thermal Power Plant: “We are at the Court to keep Amasra from Turning into a Hell!”

A thermal power plant is planned to be built in Amasra, Bartın. 2019 people, led by Bartın Platform, filed a lawsuit to make the environmental impact assessment report of the power plant cancelled. First hearing was held in Zonguldak Administrative Court on Monday.

Along with more than 400 claimants and representatives of CSOs such as Bartın Platform, Livable Zonguldak Platform and TEMA Foundation,   Rıza Yalçınkaya (Deputy of Bartın), Şerafettin Turpçu (Deputy of Zonguldak), Muharrem Akdemir (Mayor of Zonguldak), Bülent Kantarcı (Mayor of Çaycuma) attended the hearing.

Court’s decision is expected to be heard soon.
