Conscience Convoy Sets Off for Syrian Women
Hundreds of women from over 50 countries gathered in Istanbul on 6 March 2018 to start the Conscience Convoy, with a demand to release women and children being held in Syrian prisons, being raped and tortured by the Assad regime.

Gülden Sönmez, deputy chairwoman of the Human Rights and Justice Movement (İHAK), said at a press conference in Istanbul that they would represent 6736 imprisoned women with embroidered scarves.
Sönmez said that they would hold a press conference in Syrian-Turkey border on 8 March, International Women’s Day, after t marched from İstanbul to İzmit, Sakarya, Ankara, Adana and Hatay.
“The Convoy’s aim is to draw the attention to Syrian women that has been facing torture, rape, execution, imprisonment and immigration since the beginning of the war,” explained Gülden Sönmez and she continued: “We want to help them get free. We know that they are beaten, harassed and raped.”
