Women on Bicycle and the NeedsMap from Turkey were Selected to Participate in Facebook Community Leadership Program

Facebook announced in February this year a new initiative meant to provide funding to individuals building communities on the platform.

Since February, there were more than 6,000 applications from all over the world. Among hundreds of group leaders chosen, Zeynep Arapoğlu from Women on Bicycle and Mert Fırat from the NeedsMap were selected from Turkey. Indicating that the cycling community in Turkey is a small group dominated by men, Zeynep Arapoğlu aims to have their voices heard, and share their experiences with other women who want to be treated equally in society by being able to ride bicycles.
