The Ministry Will Cover Trans-Woman Prisoner’s Mammoplasty

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will cover for a trans-woman prisoner’s mamoplasty surgery.

Hilal Başak Demirbaş from CİSST (Association of Civil Society in Penal System) says that it is a first time in Turkey:

“It is an encouraging decision for other trans prisoners. However, we should repeat that all health authorities should provide equal access to right to health and develop policies to prevent homophobic and trans-phobic attitude.”
