Women’s Cycling Circle Project Gathered Local and Refugee Women Together

Within the frame of “Together We Stand” project supported by German Corporation for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), Şeyma Nur Şahin (volunteer of Refugee Sport Center) held a cycling event called “Women’s Cycling Circle”.

Together We Stand Project aims to establish a communication based on mutual understanding between the host and refugee youth in Turkey and to contribute to the process of intercultural social cohesion. As a part of this project, young refugee women were given theoretical and practical cycling lessons. After the training, women enjoyed cycling in different districts of Istanbul.

Participants applied to the project via social media and talked about what social cohesion was in their first day. They also got some theoretical training on cycling. Cycling started in the second week in Kadıköy and Maltepe shores. Women got to know each other closely thanks to the meetings. The final tour was in Kınalıada.
