Number of People Migrated from Turkey Has Increased by 42 Percent to 253 Thousand People
Turkish Statistical Institute produced information on immigration and emigration, namely annual migration flow statistics, for the first time based on administrative registers. According to the statistics produced starting from 31 December, immigration to Turkey has increased by 22,4 to 466 thousand 333 in 2017. 52,3% of this population is male, 47,7% is female. Number of people migrated from Turkey has increased by 42,5 to 253 thousand 640. 54% of this population is male, 46% is female.
Young people have the highest number of migration
12,3% of population migrated to Turkey in 2017 belongs to 25-29 age group. 11,6% of them are between 20-24; 10,8% of them are between 30-34. On the other hand, 15,5% of the population migrated from Turkey also belongs to 25-29 age group. This is followed by 14,4% of people aged 20-24 and 12,3% of people aged 30-34.
İstanbul has the largest number of immigrants
İstanbul has the highest rate of welcoming immigrants with 166 thousand and 44 people. Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 46 thousand 475, İzmir with 12 thousand 31 and Bursa with 11 thousand 191.
With 75 thousand 849 people, İstanbul has the highest rate of sending migrants as well. It is followed by Ankara with 27 thousand 379, Antalya with 15 thousand 56, Bursa with 13 thousand 946 and İzmir with 10 thousand 353 people.
Iraq has the largest number of sending immigrants to Turkey in 2017
In 2017, 26,6% of the population that immigrated to were Iraqi people. It is followed by Afghanistan with 10,4%, Syria with 7,7%, Azerbaijan with 5,7%, Turkmenistan with 5,6%. With 20,4%, Iraq has the largest number of sending immigrants from Turkey in 2017 as well. It is followed by Azerbaijan with 7,5%, Syria with 6,7%, Afghanistan with 4,6% and China with 4,5%.
