Agricultural Land in İzmir Güzelbahçe Has Been Sacrificed for Rally

Construction of racing track on a 52 decare of fertile agricultural land has started in İzmir Güzelbahçe. Local people have started to go on watch to prevent the construction.

Tuğrul Şahbaz, president of an environmental association in Güzelbahçe, applied to Ministry of Environment and Urbanization’s İzmir office about the issue and asked if there was an environmental impact assessment report to start the construction. “This construction will irreversibly harm the environment here. There should be an environment assessment report on its negative effects. We demand the urgent preparation of the report and submitting to us,” Şahbaz said.
