Women in TV Series Business Talk about Abuse: Hypocrite Sense of Morality

An initiative against abuse in TV series business called “We Are on Watch” collected signatures after the verdict of non-prosecution about an abuse incident in the set of a series broadcasted on FOX TV.

In the interview made by Burcu Karakaş in Deutsche Welle Turkish, women talked about how abuse is normalized against themselves. Four women agreed that when it comes to women, a hypocrite sense of morality comes in charge.

Cihan Aslı Filiz from the initiative called “Purple Producers” told about their plans on establishing a solidarity network. Filiz said that they plan to organize forums to talk about abuse. “Crossing over personal boundaries is called abuse but many people do not think of it as one. We as women from the TV business will make a definition about abuse and share it with the public,” she continued.
