Survey Report about the Police Raid on İstanbul/Armutlu Cemevi

Initiative for Haq, Istanbul Office has prepared a report on the police raid on Armutlu Cemevi (place of worship in Alevi faith) in Istanbul.

“There was a police raid on Armutlu Cemevi in Sarıyer district of İstanbul on 19th of July to look for wanted persons inside. As we learned from the press and the public, the police went in with long barreled weapons while there was cem (worshipping ritual in Alevi faith). Many people were subjected to bad treatment and taken into custody. Morever, the walls of cemevi were sprayed, doors were broken. According to the allegations, some of the police urinated in the halls, too.
