A Letter from Zehra Doğan to Banksy
24 Temmuz 2018
Journalist and painter Zehra Doğan thanked world-wide famous street artists Banksy and Borf, who projected one of her paintings to a wall in New York, with a letter.
She was sentenced because of her painting.
A part of her letter:
“Although I am held captive, can I call myself one after hearing the news of this kind of support? I am heard like I had never been before. Authorities, which speaks the same language as I do, do not understand me but people that live another part of the world can understand my case.
“Art is beyond words. I can’t thank you and Borf enough. I could never have imagined one of my works projected in a city like New York. Although I spend 12 hours of a day dreaming, your support is something beyond my imagination. Thank you for everything. I feel much stronger. Now I paint Efrin, because it is worth it.”
