15 Girls from 15 Cities Met in Izmir Space Camp
The Girls in Science/ Girl Can STEM project, which ended its first period on the previous days, got 15 girls together in a space camp in Izmir for the closing event.
15 girls from 15 different villages received space trainings for 3 days in the camp.
Girls In Science/ Girls Can STEM project, a joint project of GENDER studies collective in Ankara and US Embassy in Ankara, completed its first term at the end of 2017-2018 education period. The project, which gathers more than 1000 girls from 40 different schools, was conducted with 15 girls who were selected from 500 applications in space camp on 8-10 June in Izmir.
Girls who experienced many fun experiments in the camp, had the chance to observe planetarium, stars, asteroids from past to today. Children, who learned a lot about life in space and trained about space during the camp, experienced the life in space with 4 different simulators. Gravity-free environment, moon walking, work-out on moon and astronaut feeling in the gravity-free environment.
Within the scope of the project, STEM (Science Technology Engineering, Math) education and applications are made for the top notch high school girls by consulting the Ministry of National Education in 40 different schools from 15 cities.
